Why is the Rhine Falls so special?

The Rhine Falls is not the highest, but it is The richest waterfall in Europe. With a width of 150 meters, a drop height of 23 meters and a flow of up to 700,000 liters per second (in spring when the snow melts), it is overwhelming due to its sheer mass. It was created by harder rock layers that stand in the way of the Rhine.

When is the best time?

May and June offer the strongest waterfall caused by melting snow in the Alps. The flow of visitors is greatest in summer (July–August). September and October are quieter, but the waterfall is still impressive.

How do I get to the Rhine Falls?

From Zurich: approx. 45 minutes by S-Bahn (line S9 to Neuhausen Rheinfall). From Stuttgart: approx. 1.5 hours by train. The Rhine Falls train station is located directly at the waterfall. By car: from the A4 (Switzerland) exit Schaffhausen.
