Bonn & the Siebengebirge –
the green Rhine
Why is Bonn a special starting point?
While Cologne and Koblenz are the best-known starting points for the Rhine, Bonn offers something unique: its immediate proximity to the Rhine Siebengebirge – the first nature reserve in Germany. The seven basalt cones rise directly from the banks of the Rhine, the Drachenfels towers 321 meters high above the river. This backdrop makes Bonn Rhine cruises something very special.
Königswinter – the destination of most tours
Königswinter is the ideal end point: The charming town at the foot of the Drachenfels offers a Rhine promenade, a historic old town and the starting point for the Drachenfels cog railway - Germany's oldest cog railway (since 1883). If you arrive by ship, you should ideally combine the journey with the climb.
